Nicole Jakins is an Australian artist and jeweller based in Glenwood, Queensland. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) from the University of Newcastle, majoring in sculpture. Her practice focuses on sculpture and contemporary jewellery, drawing inspiration from the natural environment and decades of walking and working in the Australian bush.
Jakins has exhibited in environmentally themed exhibitions including those held at Bundaberg Regional Gallery, Craft and Design Canberra Gallery, Revival Art and Design Gallery in Brisbane and the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney. Her work has received recognition through awards including the Du Rietz Art Prize, Bundaberg Art Prize, and held residencies at Maroochy Botanic Gardens Arts and Ecology Centre and CQ Rasn's Tough and Tender Beauty.
In addition to her practice, she has worked in arts administration, as the Director of Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery, Acting Coordinator at Hervey Bay Regional Gallery, and is currently on the team at Gympie Regional Gallery. Jakins continues to create from her studio on her rural property and is driven by a quiet environmental consciousness.
